The O.G. of the North American diesel pick-up market, Chevrolet and GMC started putting the 5.7L Oldsmobile diesel into pick-ups in the late 70's which later transitioned to the Chevrolet 6.2L diesel engine starting in 1982. This indirect injected engine was later updated to the 6.5L in 1992, still with the same DB2 mechanical pump which was replaced with the electronic controlled DS4 pump in 1994 and remained in pick-up until the introduction on the Duramax engine in 2001.
