About This Product
About This Product
BD's 68RFE is the industry leading transmission. BD has addressed the common failures associated with the stock 68RFE. Burnt overdrive clutches are a thing of the past, utilizing custom billet QT100 reaction plates, longer "Big Stack" spline OD shaft, and 16 frictional surfaces. Every BD 68RFE is also build to withstand 250psi of line pressure for unrivaled torque holding capacity. Comes with Billet Input Shaft designed to withstand rapid acceleration and high torque

This review documents a product failure and warranty experience that raises serious concerns regarding quality control, warranty administration, and post‑sale accountability.
I purchased a BD Torque Master transmission based on published representations that it was rated for power levels exceeding my truck’s output. The vehicle is daily driven, not abused, and only tows occasionally. Despite operating within those parameters, the transmission failed at approximately 1.5 years of service and under 30,000 miles, well inside BD’s advertised 3‑year / 150,000‑mile warranty.
The warranty process was prolonged and unusually burdensome. From initial claim to return of the transmission, the process took approximately two months and required submission of extensive documentation, including professional credentials (ASE Master Certification). Communication throughout this period was inconsistent and often absent.
The transmission failure resulted in secondary damage to the flex plate and transfer case. BD only partially covered the transfer case repair and characterized a reduced‑price replacement flex plate as a “discount,” despite the damage being directly associated with the transmission failure. Technical documentation provided by BD emphasized cosmetic exterior observations rather than clearly identifying the internal cause of failure.
Multiple attempts were made to escalate the matter to higher management through documented messages and callback requests. No response was received by phone or email.
The extended loss of the vehicle created a significant burden on my household, including disruption to daily transportation and the cancellation of a previously planned vacation.
Based on this experience, the advertised warranty appears difficult to access in practice and heavily weighted toward minimizing manufacturer responsibility after failure occurs. Prospective customers should carefully evaluate warranty language, maintain exhaustive documentation, and consider alternative manufacturers. I would not purchase another BD transmission.
Terrible product even worse customer support. Spent 9k to have my local shop put one in, not even a year later left stranded had to tow truck home took to shop waited three months to get transmission back saying I had abused and raced the truck, wanted to charge me 3k to repair. Not even a year later driving truck and lost 4th, 5th and 6th gear. Been another month of waiting and haven’t heard nothing from BD and the shop says they aren’t responding. DONT BUY A SINGLE THING THIS COMPANY WILL NO SUPPORT OR STAND BY THEIR WARRANTY. They’ve never seen the truck and told me It had race and sled abuse what a joke. Buy a Randy’s Transmission.
