Factory Aisin AS69RC transmissions are built for commercial duty, but heavy hauling and aftermarket tuning quickly reveal internal structural and hydraulic weaknesses. BD Diesel Towmaster packages eliminate these known failure points with hardened billet components and enhanced friction capacity.
The most common mechanical issue plaguing the AS69RC is severe spline tooth wear on the factory K2 hub, along with ring groove failure on the stock cast K3 clutch drum. When towing heavy or running increased engine output, these stock components experience premature fatigue, causing slip, harsh engagements, or catastrophic clutch failure. BD Diesel cures these flaws by installing an exclusive nitride-coated billet K2 hub alongside a reinforced billet K3 drum, ensuring the geartrain withstands continuous high-torque cycles.
To keep power firmly planted to the pavement, BD increases clutch counts in the critical K2 (+33%), K3 (+40%), and B1 (+20%) packs, utilizing custom-selected friction plates that preserve smooth, positive shifts. Hydraulic holding force is elevated up to 300 PSI max line pressure via an upgraded valve body regulator spring. Every Towmaster transmission comes equipped with a cast aluminum deep-sump oil pan adding 3.5 quarts of fluid, leak-resistant nitrile rubber gaskets, and a matching ProForce multi-disc torque converter.
