About This Product

BD's Screamer line of turbos offer drop-in, stock-appearing units that add an additional punch in power without major modifications to intake or exhaust systems. The HE351CW Screamer for the Common Rail 5.9L Dodge Cummins engines feature custom compressor and turbine wheels that have been designed to give you increased airflow without compromising on low end performance. With supporting modifications, the Dodge 5.9L Screamer is capable of up to 625hp and can work with any "box" tuner. The turbine/exhaust outlet is the same as the stock turbo. If you have a turbo mount exhaust brake on your stock turbo it can be transferred to the new Screamer Turbo. If you plan on buying an exhaust brake with this Screamer turbo you should buy according to the year of your truck.

Screamer HE351CW Turbo Dodge Pick-up 5.9L Cummins 2003-2007

Will this turbo fit my 2007 5.9L Cummins as a direct replacement?

Yes, the BD Screamer HE351CW (part number 1045768) is a direct, drop-in replacement for the factory turbo on all 2003-2007 Dodge Ram trucks with the 5.9L Cummins engine. It uses the stock mounting points and hardware. — This turbo is designed as a stock-appearing unit, meaning it installs without requiring major modifications to your intake or exhaust systems. The turbine outlet flange is identical to the factory HE351CW, which allows you to transfer your existing turbo-mount exhaust brake directly onto the Screamer. If you plan to purchase a new exhaust brake, you should order the model specific to your truck's model year. The turbo is pre-calibrated with a BD Wastegate Canister set to 39psi and has been balanced on a high-speed VSR balancer for reliability.

What makes this 'Screamer' turbo better than the stock HE351CW?

The Screamer turbo features a larger billet compressor wheel and a larger high-flow turbine wheel compared to the stock unit. These upgrades increase airflow, support significantly more horsepower, and help lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs). — Specifically, the BD Screamer (PN 1045768) is upgraded with a 63mm custom trim Billet Compressor Wheel and a high-flow 67mm turbine wheel. This combination provides a substantial increase in airflow, leading to more boost, lower drive pressures, and decreased peak EGTs—all critical for performance and reliability when towing or daily driving. The turbo comes preset with a BD Wastegate Canister to manage up to 39psi of boost, and with the right supporting modifications, it can help your 5.9L Cummins produce up to 625 horsepower.

Do I need to get custom tuning to run this turbo?

No, custom tuning is not required to run this turbo. The Screamer HE351CW is engineered to work effectively with any standard off-the-shelf 'box' tuner or even on a truck with stock programming. — While a custom tune will always maximize the potential of any performance part, this turbo is designed for broad compatibility and immediate improvement. Its efficiency gains come from superior mechanical components—the 63mm billet compressor and 67mm turbine wheel—which deliver more power and lower EGTs without demanding complex ECM recalibration. This makes it an ideal upgrade for trucks with stock or mild injector upgrades, and it is perfectly suitable for daily driving, towing, and street performance applications right out of the box.

What kind of power increase can I realistically expect?

This turbo can support a power level of up to 625 horsepower in a 5.9L Cummins with the necessary supporting modifications. For trucks with just a performance tuner, it is capable of adding up to 100 wheel horsepower over the stock turbocharger. — The Screamer turbo (PN 1045768) is designed for a wide operating range, from 350hp to 625hp. The power gains are achieved through the significantly improved airflow from the 63mm compressor and 67mm turbine. To reach the 625hp peak capability, your engine will require complementary upgrades such as performance injectors, a higher-flow lift pump, and custom engine tuning. For an owner with a stock or mildly modified truck using a box tuner, the Screamer provides a substantial and noticeable increase in power and responsiveness.

How does this turbo help with high EGTs when towing?

The Screamer turbo reduces exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) by improving the engine's breathing efficiency. Its larger, high-flow turbine and compressor wheels allow the engine to operate with less restriction, lowering exhaust drive pressure and evacuating hot gas more effectively. — High EGTs under load are often a symptom of the stock turbo being unable to move enough air. The BD Screamer (PN 1045768) corrects this with its high-flow 67mm turbine wheel, which creates a less restrictive path for exhaust gases, directly lowering drive pressure. Simultaneously, the efficient 63mm billet compressor wheel pushes more cool, dense air into the cylinders. This improved airflow leads to a more complete combustion cycle and lower peak EGTs, allowing you to maintain speed on long grades without overheating.

Is there a core charge for this turbocharger?

No, there is no core charge for the BD Diesel Screamer HE351CW turbo. You are not required to send your original factory turbo back. — This turbo, part number 1045768, is sold as a completely new unit, not a remanufactured part. This simplifies the transaction by eliminating the need for a core deposit, the logistics of return shipping, and any potential disputes over the condition of your old turbo. Every Screamer is built with new components and is precision balanced on a high-speed VSR machine to ensure it meets performance and reliability standards right out of the box.
