Go back to a simpler time, when things worked and you could rely on your Duramax fuel system. Since the introduction of the common rail fuel system in 2001, all Duramax Engines were equipped with a reliable Bosch CP3 high pressure fuel pump. Then in 2011, GM made major changes and switched to a Bosch CP4 pump which has seen its share of problems!

The CP4 is also susceptible to catastrophic failure. When disaster strikes, the entire fuel system requires replacement after metal debris from the failed pump spreads throughout. Cleaning the tank, replacing lines and injectors, and of course a new pump can end up costing you in excess of $10,000 in repairs! Prevent a costly failure and add durability by backdating your LML Duramax to a CP3 with a conversion kit from BD Diesel. This kit comes with everything you need for install and does not require tuning!

CP3 conversion kit

This a the review from my GM certified diesel tech who did the install. “Overall extremely impressed with the quality of the CP3 conversion kit from BD, the adapter bracket was really well made and fitment was perfect. Fuel lines were all bent and shaped exactly like OEM which made install very straightforward, no bending or manipulating required. Truck fired up and ran very well almost immediately, I was expecting some stumble at first while the truck got used to the new pump but it fired up as if nothing had been changed. My only complaints are that the instruction booklet supplied wasn’t great, hard to see the pictures, the online one is better but obviously if you don’t have access to that then it could be a little tougher if you haven’t pulled one of those apart before, I also noticed the fuel pressure regulator on the pump in the picture vs the one supplied was different, just had me worried that parts were wrong (90degree connector vs straight connector on FPR) worked fine though! The extension harness for the fuel pressure regulator wasn’t crimped properly and pulled apart from both ends, just ended up extending the factory harness instead, seemed more trustworthy then a jumper harness longevity wise. A couple of marks on the adapter bracket to show where “up” was would have been nice as it can be bolted up the wrong way and as the old CP4 is timed and the CP3 isn’t a note stating don’t worry about looking for a timing mark would be nice so you know you don’t have to worry about that. Otherwise honestly a great quality kit, would definitely recommend and of all the “aftermarket conversion” type kits I’ve installed over my years as a tech that’s probably one of the best ones I’ve done.”
